Bella (Seohyun) Kim
Harvard University
Neuroscience
Sophomore
Buffalo Grove, IL

My name is Bella, and I am a sophomore at Harvard University pursuing a degree in Neuroscience and a Secondary in Music. At school, I play viola in the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra, write for the arts section of the school newspaper, and do research at a lab that investigates neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental diseases using stem cells. Growing up, I was curious about nature and how living things are organized.

Having gravitated toward subjects like biology and chemistry, I came to college with a general interest in the life sciences. I became interested in neuroscience last year when I started volunteering at a memory care facility. Currently, my interests lie in neurodegenerative diseas, mental illness, and the connection between music and medicine.

This summer, I will be working as a research assistant at the Harvard Korea Institute to explore global health and medical humanities and interning at a neuroscience lab. After my undergraduate education, I plan on attending medical school and pursuing a career in medicine, hopefully combining many of my interests. In my free time, I like to read, make jewelry, and watch horror movies. I am very grateful and
excited to be one of this year’s SNUAA scholars
