The Korean-American Scientist and Engineers Association (KSEA) is pleased to announce the 2024 Scientists and Engineers Early Career Development (SEED) workshop, which will be held in San Francisco, California.

Since 2013, the SEED workshop has been offered by the KSEA to foster and mentor the career development of junior KSEA members, including Ph.D. students, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career professionals. The program will accommodate 70-80 participants, alongside 10 mid-career and senior professionals serving as mentors. Renowned speakers will lead discussions on career development and emerging topics, fostering mentoring relationships among attendees.
Support for attendees (Current KSEA membership and entire two-day participation required):
- Airfare: Up to $200 or driving mileage reimbursement at $0.50/mile, additional support upon request.
- Accommodation: One-night (shared room) on August 20, 2024.
- Meals: Lunch/dinner on August 20, 2024 and breakfast/lunch August 21, 2024
An exclusive poster session will also be held in collaboration with UKC sponsors, presenting an excellent chance for attendees to engage with potential employers and broaden their professional networks. Awards will be presented for outstanding posters.
Application Process:
- Application open: April 1, 2024. All application materials should be submitted through the form (https://seed.ksea.org/application/seed2024_application) which can also be found in the KSEA website (https://seed.ksea.org/). Interested candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, as space may be limited.
- Deadline: April 30, 2024
- Finalist announcement: May 15, 2024
- Selection criteria: Merit and need-based for approximately 80 applicants.
Registration for the selected applicants: Open upon finalist announcement, with following registration fee-Graduate students: $50; Postdocs: $75; Junior faculty, government employees, or early-stage professionals: $100. Please ensure to review and accept the SEED liability waiver upon registration. The health and safety guidelines from UKC 2024 will be observed.
