Jeremy Kim is a student at Stanford University studying mathematics and computer science. He
is passionate about research in medical applications of artificial intelligence and teaching. In
high school, he volunteered at Weill Cornell Medical College’s Radiology Lab, where he
explored methods to analyze medical images with artificial intelligence. This experience made
him excited about continuing to study artificial intelligence and explore additional methods to
improve healthcare, particularly as it relates to medical imaging, with it. At Stanford, he
conducts research with Stanford’s Medical Imaging Instrumentation Lab, studying methods to
develop artificial intelligence algorithms for specialized datasets of PET and CT images.

He hopes to help other students become interested in computer science through teaching. His
first experience learning computer science was at his neighborhood’s local library, and he
believes that teachers can make a powerful difference on their students’ lives. He has organized
talks and tours of technology companies as the co-president of his school’s computer science
club. Most recently, he has worked as a teaching assistant for his school’s computer science
department, where he organized review sessions and answered students’ questions during
office hours.

Outside of school, Jeremy enjoys running, writing for his school’s comedy magazine, and
spending time with his friends and family. He is also a residential assistant for his school’s
dormitory, Kimball Hall.

Jeremy is grateful to have been selected as a scholar, and he hopes to continue learning and
developing methods to improve global healthcare through computer science research and
cross-disciplinary discussions with th.e support of this scholarship. He is keen on continuing to
help teach and mentor students.
