Los Angeles, CA
Hello, my name is Yuna Oh and I am from Apple Valley, California. I am a rising senior at Duke University with an environmental science & policy major and a biology minor. Over my last two spring semesters, I completed two research projects at the Duke Marine Lab, identifying the social impacts and priorities of small-scale fishery organizations and analyzing minke whale behavior using a machine learning pose estimation program (SLEAP AI).
Having grown up in an area constantly affected by the cycle of droughts and wildfires and witnessing the detrimental impacts to my community, I aim to make a difference in the realm of environmental relief and recovery. Previously, I have worked in Raleigh’s office of sustainability examining how different departments are integrating equity and resilience into city infrastructure and engagement projects. This summer, I will be working as a water resources intern at Tetra Tech where I hope to provide solutions to help address social and environmental pressures surrounding water resources management.
In my free time, I enjoy herping, fishing, skateboarding, and researching places I want to eat next.
