UPenn Professor Dohyung Kim (공대 12) Selected for Packard Fellowship, Famed for Producing Nobel Laureates

Dohyung Kim, a professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, has been named a recipient of the 2025 Packard Fellowships for Science and Engineering. The David and Lucile Packard Foundation announced this year’s 20 fellows on October 15 (local time). Recipients will receive $875,000 (approximately 1.2 billion KRW) in unrestricted research funds over the next five years.

Established in 1988, the Packard Fellowship is one of the most influential research support programs for early-career scientists in the United States. Each year, 20 fellows are selected from candidates nominated by 50 invited universities. More than 700 individuals have received the fellowship to date. Previous Packard Fellows include Nobel laureates such as Moungi Bawendi (Chemistry, 2023), Andrea Ghez (Physics, 2020), and Jennifer Doudna (Chemistry, 2020).
