Hello, my name is Heerin Seo and I am from Dallas, Texas. I am a rising senior at the University of Pennsylvania studying business with concentrations in Marketing and Operations Management. Over the summer, I will be working with L’Oreal as their Operations intern and learning more about this aspect of business.

While my main focus is business, I have always had a passion for service and the law. One day, I hope to be a voice for all minorities, whether that be for Korean Americans, women of color, or victims of assault. The law itself does not often change, but I believe that those who practice and engage with those affected by the justice system can be driven by more passion and understanding.

Outside of academics, I love to travel and explore new cuisines. I have had a great time in Philadelphia because it is filled with many unique restaurants and I can easily explore different cities. Penn has also provided me with various opportunities, such as global seminars, where the class travels outside the US to apply what was learned in the classroom. I recently traveled to Athens over Spring Break to study the Parthenon in person, and I cannot wait to go back and explore the rest of Greece. One of my life goals is to travel to one new place every year because it challenges me to step out of my comfort zone and experience the beauty of our world.

Through the generosity of this scholarship, I will be able to continue to pursue my endeavours at Penn and work towards making my dreams a reality. I hope to utilize this opportunity to make a difference for myself, my family, and the Korean American community, while continuing to be a driver for change.
