The speaker, Prof. Young Ok Lee is unfortunately down with Pneumonia and will be unable to present tonight. Please do join us and contribute to the AI discussion.
| At the May 28, 2026 Salient Sr. Forum, Prof. Young-Ok Lee will present “AI Tsunami: Inevitable? Or Perhaps a Happy Ending?” Please join us for a timely discussion on how artificial intelligence may reshape human life and society. Artificial intelligence has reached a critical turning point in its evolution. No longer confined to narrow, task-specific applications, AI now stands on the threshold of becoming Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), a form of superintelligence capable of performing virtually any task humans can do. The constant stream of AI developments can feel overwhelming and threatening, like an unstoppable tsunami. Yet it may also herald a new era of prosperity, creativity, and unprecedented opportunity. Throughout history, transformative technologies were often feared at first, but ultimately became engines of human progress. Now that AI occupies a central place in modern life, whether it leads humanity toward dystopia or utopia depends largely on the choices we make. This lecture examines the evolution of AI and explores both the dystopian and utopian futures that may lie ahead, offering perspectives essential for navigating this defining moment. |
