My name is Jennifer Hyekyeong Lee, and I am a senior at Princeton University, majoring in Neuroscience with a minor in Cognitive Science. Growing up overseas, I developed a deep sense of both pride in and connection to Korea. This perspective has shaped the way I approach education, inspiring me to see learning as a bridge between cultures and communities.

At Princeton, I have focused my studies on human cognition, perception, and emotion. My senior thesis builds on these interests, exploring how the brain represents meaningful visual information. I am analyzing neural activity in prefrontal and visual regions to better understand the dynamics of visual perception—a project I am continuing to develop as I refine my approach and analyses. This work allows me to connect the concepts I have learned in coursework with hands-on inquiry into the brain’s role in perception and cognition.

Beyond academics, I am grateful for opportunities to learn through leadership and service. I serve as Vice President of Programming for SHARE Princeton, supporting sexual harassment and assault education and advocacy, and as a Bridge Year liaison for Cambodia and Costa Rica. I also had the privilege of working as a Streicker International Fellow in Seoul with The Korean Council, contributing to a digital archive that amplifies survivor-centered narratives. Throughout my time at Princeton, I have remained engaged in cultural education, music, and community-based volunteering, seeking ways to translate learning into
meaningful action.

Looking ahead, I hope to pursue a path that integrates neuroscience, mental health advocacy, and cross-cultural engagement. I aspire to contribute to work that centers empathy, care, and understanding, and to serve as a bridge between Korea and the global community. I am deeply thankful for the mentors and communities that continue to guide my growth and support my learning journey.
