Jaeyi Song is an Egleston Scholar and sophomore at Columbia University, pursuing a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research. Her academic interests lie at the intersection of optimization, consumer behavior, and economics. Post-graduation, Jaeyi hopes to pursue a JD-PhD, exploring
marketing and decision science.
At Columbia, Jaeyi is actively engaged in research across operations research and applied economics. She is interested in consumer behavior research, studying the pain of purchase by analyzing survey and behavioral data. The goal of her research is to understand the complex reasoning behind purchasing decisions and pricing strategies on both an individual and organizational level. Jaeyi is also involved in research on economic complexity and industrial growth, building quantitative models to understand
regional development.
Professionally, Jaeyi has gained experience across supply chain and logistics, data analytics, and growth marketing. Most recently, Jaeyi interned at The Coca-Cola Company, where she was a supply chain optimization intern. There, she worked on developing supply chain models and building dynamic cost models to optimize prices. Additionally, Jaeyi has a personal passion for startups and entrepreneurship, having interned at a number of early-stage startups in the CPG space and taking on a number of roles, such as marketing, user retention analysis, and packaging design. Informed by these experiences, she also hopes to work on her own startup in the future.
Outside of academics and work, Jaeyi enjoys skiing, golfing, and spending time with her poodle. Jaeyi is grateful to SNUAA for the opportunity to receive this scholarship and hopes to give back to the community in the future by mentoring the next generation.
