인류의 오랜 꿈 … 바닷물을 식수로 바꾸려는 꿈이 현실화되고 있다. 21세기 ‘블루 골드’로 각광받고 있는 해수의 담수화가 바로 그것이다. 21세기 연금술로 불리는 담수화 기술은 인간에게 생존을 의미한다. 지구 상의 수자원은 97%가 바닷물이고 담수는 3%에 불과하다. LA를 비롯한 남가주 일대는 강수량이 연간 11인치 정도여서 ‘사막화’가 빨리 진행되고 있는 실정이다. 올 겨울 들어 폭우가 쏟아지는 등 가뭄이 해소되고 있다고는 하지만 여전히 물부족 …
