KSEA Salient Senior Forum Series

On the Road

At the April 30, 2026 Salient Sr. Forum, Prof. Myung Jong Lee will talk to us about his dream walk through the Camino de Santiago. Please join us to learn about the journey Prof. Lee took.

For centuries, pilgrims have walked the Camino de Santiago, a network of routes leading to the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela, for religious devotion, cultural interest, or personal challenge. During a two-week journey along the Portuguese Camino-from Porto along Portugal’s Atlantic coast through Galicia-the path’s healing effect gradually becomes understandable.

Life on the Camino is simplified: each day centers on walking, carrying only essentials, and reaching the next town. Achievements are measured not by comparison or recognition, but by the quiet satisfaction of completing the day’s journey. This steady rhythm clarifies the idea that life itself is a journey.

With changing landscapes and brief encounters, time slows and distractions fade. After days of walking, a sense of renewal emerges as attention shifts to present needs-the next step and place to rest.

By reducing life to essentials, the Camino experience teaches what truly matters and encourages living with trust rather than worry about tomorrow.
